Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is worried that. Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer will not be able to replicate his form last season. And is hopeful that Enzo Maresca will be sacked.
The Blues have made another change after sacking Mauricio Pochettino and bringing in Maresca. Who led Leicester City to the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League to take over.
However, Carragher is concerned that Palmer will not be able to show the same intensity under Poch and believes the Italian manager will be fired.UFABET
“What people forget in the Pep and Klopp era is that Chelsea almost got into it.” Carragher told The Overlap.
“They beat Man City in the Champions League final and then lost to Liverpool on penalties in the cup. Thomas Tuchel can compete with Klopp and Pep in a single game of football.”
“Then the new owners came in and it was a disaster in terms of the situation they’re in now. They brought in new players but only Cole Palmer looked interesting.”
“My concern for Chelsea is that Pochettino should get a lot of credit for Palmer’s performance last season. I don’t think that’s the case, not even Pep. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have let him go. So they might not get the same Palmer this season.”
“I was sure they would do well because I thought Palmer was brilliant. But then the new manager came in so it was different.”
“Pre-season is over, they play Man City in the first game of the season. I would be surprised if Maresca is still the manager at the end of the season, it would be very surprising.”
