Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes Mason Mount will be a substitute this season given his current position.

However, Scholes believes Mount’s ideal position is No. 10, a position Bruno already occupies and would be difficult for him to penetrate.
“The middle of the pitch has been too open in the last few minutes, opponents have been coming through all day. You (fans) talk about Casemiro’s power, it looks a bit weak. He’s not that type of player,” Scholes said.
“He’s never been quicker and he’s got great players around him. When Mason Mount came in, I think Erik ten Hag is a coach who likes that.”
“He tried to change it because it wasn’t working. But he tried to play Casemiro with Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes, who are both No. 10s… It was a change too soon.”
“Mount is injured, will we see Mount fit this year? And even if he is fit, he won’t play for Bruno, that’s the only position I can see him playing.”
